I was born and raised in the Dallas area. I grew up attending church but did not believe in Jesus Christ for salvation. I attended the University of North Texas and became a Christian during my senior year in college. During my junior year of college, I began regularly reading the Bible and going to church. However, I didn’t become a Christian until a year later when at home one day, the Lord brought passages such as Galatians 5:19-21 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 to mind and I was convicted of my sin and knew that I needed a Savior. I repented of my sin and believed the gospel. After college, I moved to Memphis, TN to go through the Downline Institute. Later I worked at Harvest Church, then moved to Alexandria, VA to participate in a pastoral internship at Del Ray Baptist Church. After the internship, I served as an Assistant Pastor at DRBC. I graduated with a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in spring of 2020. I am joyfully married to my wife, Stephanie. We have one son, Jayce, and two girls, Braylee & Brielle.

Luke Matzke

Pastor

I was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. I grew up attending a faithful gospel preaching church, and heard the gospel proclaimed frequently within my household. Despite these things, I did not come to know the Lord until my junior year of high school through the faithful ministry of a youth pastor at my local church. In the Lord’s kindness, I became convicted of my sin, and understood my need for a Savior. I repented of my sin, and believed solely upon the gospel of Jesus Christ for my salvation. After college, I moved to Memphis, TN where I’ve served in various educational roles over the last 9 years. I am exceedingly grateful to be married to my wife of 8 years, Clarissa. We have three children - Addilyn, Lainey, and Mae.

John Sarver

Pastor

I was born in Los Angeles but moved around quite a bit before our family settled in the Dallas area. Though I grew up hearing the gospel I did not believe in Christ until my junior year of high school when my social studies teacher shared the gospel with me. By God’s grace I understood my sin, my separation from God, and Christ’s redeeming work on my behalf. During my undergrad at Oklahoma State I met my now wife of eleven years, Jessica. We have four children—Haddon, Pavey, Josie and Jane. I have a Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and am working toward a PhD in historical and theological studies. If I’m not with my kids, I’m probably reading, playing boardgames with friends, or watching a good show or a bad sports team.
